29 Sep 2011 Minister Snowdon, in announcing increases to some veterans’ pensions, said:  320,000 veterans, partners and war widows and widowers will now receive increased pensions and income support payments from 20 September 2011.
Perhaps Minister Snowdon would like to explain why has my Military Pension gone up only 33% in 10 years? When other pensions have almost doubled. More.....

19 Sep 2011 On 16th September 2011, the Royal Australian Navy exercised its Freedom of Entry with 'swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, bands playing and colours flying' to the City of Melbourne. The parade commemorated the centenary of the granting of Royal Assent by King George V to the Navy, and mark the important contribution that Melbourne and the State of Victoria continue to provide to the Royal Australian Navy.

07 Sep 2011 Celebrating the RAN's 100th Anniversary, the RAN will exercise the Right of Freedom of Entry to the City of Melbourne.
On 16th September the RAN will exercise the Right of Freedom of Entry to Melbourne. The march will be stepping off at 1130 from the Concert Hall / Art Gallery in St Kilda Rd. The contingent will proceed along Swanston St with the challenge to occur at Collins St, then completing at Swanston/Bourke St intersection.
In excess of 1000 personnel will be involved in the FoE. The Fleet Commander will lead the parade, with the Chief of Navy taking the salute.
The last FoE by the RAN into the City of Melbourne was led by Commodore Jim Dickson (as NOCVIC) during the bi-centennial year in 1988.
06 Sep 2011 Principal Chaplain (RC) Right Reverend Monsignor "Tiger" Lyons AM RAN (Rtd) passed away peacefully at St Joseph's Home, Northcote, Victoria on 4th September 2011, (just a few weeks short of his 90th birthday). He had been in care for some years. His funeral Mass will be at St Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne on Thursday 8th September commencing at 1400. He will be buried in the Priest's Crypt at the Melbourne General Cemetery after the Mass concludes. More.....

FORMER chief of the army Lieutenant-General Peter Leahy has condemned the indexation of military pensions for retired service personnel as unfair.
More than 60,000 former defence force members are fighting to have their pensions indexed at the same rate as the aged pension.  More.....

2014 - 2018

The Anzac Centenary (2014 – 2018) will shine a spotlight on the commitment and sacrifice of those who served in the First World War.

Across Victoria, there will be a number of commemorative events marking key dates throughout the Centenary.


OCTOBER 2015

ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball - 17 October 2015
The Naval Commemorative Committee Victoria, invite all serving ADF personnel, Australian and Allied Veterans along with family and friends, to attend the ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball on Saturday 17 October 2015 at (New Venue) The Atrium, Flemington Racecourse, 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington (10 Minutes from the CBD).  Dance to the Music of the RAN Dance Band.  The Ball is open to all serving and former members of the ADF, NZDF, Reserves, Cadets, families, friends, Police, Emergency Services, our Allies and the General Public.
