15 Nov 2011 THE ADF WORKPLACE REMUNERATION ARRANGEMENT 2011 – 2014
David Jamison, the National President of DFWA expressed deep disappointment with the ADF Workplace Arrangement outcome because it will effectively strip ADF members and their families of purchasing power over the next three years. He went on to state that despite 62% of those ADF members polled not supporting it the decision, resulting from the Commonwealth and ADF jointly developing its provisions and putting an “agreed case” before the Defence Remuneration Tribunal, was imposed on them.  More.....

The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, today announced that public hearings will be held around Australia as part of the Victoria Cross Inquiry.

14th Annual Australia-China Defence Strategic Dialogue

The Secretary of Defence, Mr Duncan Lewis, and Vice Chief of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Mark Binskin, met with General Ma Xiaotian, Deputy Chief of General Staff, People’s Liberation Army in Canberra this week. 11 Nov 2011 Update on the Death of HMAS Warramunga Sailor
The Royal Australian Navy can confirm that the member of HMAS Warramunga’s crew who passed away while ashore on leave in Cambodia on 10 November 2011, was Leading Seaman Boatswain’s Mate Bradley William Livingston.
The 33 year old’s family is continuing to be provided with support by Navy and the Defence Community Organisation.
The family has requested the media respect their privacy at this time.
Two members of the ADF Investigative Service are now in Cambodia to investigate the death and it would be inappropriate to comment further until that investigation has been completed.

Grade 6 pupil and school captain Laura Benney was researching the November 1941 sinking as part of a class assignment, when she wrote to the HMAS Sydney Veteran’s Association for more information. 08 Nov 2011 Military rifles and machine guns on offer to RSLs and museums for preservation.
Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare today released a Request for Offer (RFO) for up to 90 L1A1 Self Loading Rifles (SLRs) and 40 M60D Machine Guns. The items will be open for sale to museums, returned services associations, military heritage and other historical organisations as exhibits for static display.

Over nearly 25 years, between January 1960 and December 1984, approximately 13,000 15 and 16 year old boys joined the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) as junior recruits – a group the size of our current Navy workforce. The world of the ‘JRs’, as they were called, was often a very different one from the modern entry processes to the RAN. The majority served in warships before turning 18, some experiencing active service in the Indonesian Confrontation and the Vietnam War. Read the full story.....

The Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AM, CSC, RAN says reports on the state of morale among Navy’s patrol boat crews on border protection operations are incorrect. Vice Admiral Griggs also says a report in today’s Australian newspaper (Morale crisis on navy asylum patrol boats) shows a misunderstanding of how Navy maintains and operates its Armidale Class patrol boats and crews. The Anzac Centenary (2014 – 2018) will shine a spotlight on the commitment and sacrifice of those who served in the First World War.

Across Victoria, there will be a number of commemorative events marking key dates throughout the Centenary.

ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball - 17 October 2015
The Naval Commemorative Committee Victoria, invite all serving ADF personnel, Australian and Allied Veterans along with family and friends, to attend the ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball on Saturday 17 October 2015 at (New Venue) The Atrium, Flemington Racecourse, 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington (10 Minutes from the CBD).  Dance to the Music of the RAN Dance Band.  The Ball is open to all serving and former members of the ADF, NZDF, Reserves, Cadets, families, friends, Police, Emergency Services, our Allies and the General Public.
