29 Dec 2011 Once again, master model maker Max Montague opened his house to the cadets of TS Voyager. This time the cadets were set a task of finding certain articles that were placed in the models when Max first built them. eg. on one of the ships inside the helicopter there's a slab of VB. On the Sydney II there's a pair of binoculars in the bridge. There's also a sailor's hat sitting on a locker. It made for an interesting and most enjoyable day. Also in attendance was Maritime Artist, Randall Wilson. Photos of the day have been uploaded on to You Tube. View the video.....

22 Dec 2011 It has come to our attention that the Victorian Government have changed the rules in relation to a Visitors Transport Pass in Victoria. To obtain a pass you will have to have proof of war service overseas, peacekeeping or peace making service to qualify.
To obtain a pass you must send a request to the Central Pass Office.
The Central Pass Office is conveniently located in Southern Cross Station at 99 Spencer Street in Docklands.

20 Dec 2011 GRANTS TO HELP HONOUR WAR VETERANS
The Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Warren Snowdon, today announced 64 new projects that will receive funding to honour Australia's wartime heritage.
Mr Snowdon said Saluting Their Service grants worth $160,394 will fund projects to commemorate those who served, and continue to serve, Australia in wars, conflicts and peace operations. More.....

20 Dec 2011 TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY (Concussion).......a new stand alone SOP.
The Repatriation Medical Authority (RMA) decided on 7 December 2011 to ask for submissions from interested parties in order to investigate a new stand alone SOP (statement of principle) on mild to severe traumatic brain injury. The incidence of repeated individual episodes of concussion within the ADF has increased significantly over the duration of the IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN conflicts so it is now important to have this disease entity recognised in its own right. This complaint can occur in naval personnel as incidents ashore or afloat.  More.....

After spraying 21 Million gallons of herbicide over the South Vietnam countryside 1962-71 I think it not an unreasonable assumption, ‘though probably not a very scientific one, that all personnel who served in Vietnam be they afloat or ashore have been exposed to sufficient dioxin of one form or another as a result of drinking contaminated water that we can believe that the males will all have prostate cancer until proved otherwise. The Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs, has today promoted Commodore Robyn Walker to the rank of Rear Admiral in the Royal Australian Navy. 05 Dec 2011 Team Navy V8 Supercar Launch at HMAS Waterhen
The Royal Australian Navy and Ford Performance Racing (FPR) have joined forces to support and grow the next generation of Marine Technicians through two key initiatives announced at HMAS Waterhen.
FPR's Development Series driver Chaz Mostert will drive a special car in the final meet of the season, this weekend's Sydney Telstra 500. The race car has been prepared in RAN livery with the special number of 100 for this one race. View the video.....

05 Dec 2011 Master mariner, commercial diver, swimming pool builder, inventor, artist and cartoonist - it seemed there was nothing Allan Hewson could not do, and do brilliantly. He entered the Royal Australian Navy in 1960, aged only 16, in the first intake of the Junior Recruits Course at HMAS Leeuwin in Fremantle, in the Nankina Division. More.....

The Anzac Centenary (2014 – 2018) will shine a spotlight on the commitment and sacrifice of those who served in the First World War.

Across Victoria, there will be a number of commemorative events marking key dates throughout the Centenary.

ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball - 17 October 2015
The Naval Commemorative Committee Victoria, invite all serving ADF personnel, Australian and Allied Veterans along with family and friends, to attend the ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball on Saturday 17 October 2015 at (New Venue) The Atrium, Flemington Racecourse, 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington (10 Minutes from the CBD).  Dance to the Music of the RAN Dance Band.  The Ball is open to all serving and former members of the ADF, NZDF, Reserves, Cadets, families, friends, Police, Emergency Services, our Allies and the General Public.
