24 Aug 2011 VETERANS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN WORLD-FIRST RESEARCH

The club is open every Friday night and also opens for the many functions it has throughout the year. Should you wish to have a quite drink and conversation, away from the noise of poker machines, the FNMC is the place to be on Friday nights. Opens at 1900.
19 Aug 2011 Air warfare destroyer keel arrives in Adelaide.
Tightly wrapped in protective plastic but clearly the right shape, the first keel block of the air warfare destroyers has arrived in Osborne. The block was built at BAE Systems in Melbourne and barged to the Port River where it was offloaded at Techport Australia. More.....
19 Aug 2011 The Navy League’s two RAN "Royal" Centenary Year 2011 "Creswell" projects are:
  • Restoration & unveiling the restored Creswell Memorial at St Kilda.
  • Gifting a Creswell bronze bust to HMAS Creswell, as Victoria’s contribution to the RAN’s “Royal” Centenary year 2011.
On Monday 5th September 2011 the Chief of Navy VADM R. Griggs AM CSC RAN will unveil the restored memorial. Following this at the Naval Centenary Reception in the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) Harbour View Room he will receive a bronze bust of Creswell for the Naval College.

12 Aug 2011 Smoother Transition For Defence Personnel
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Warren Snowdon, today announced that from October 2011, dedicated staff from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs will operate at more than 25 military bases around Australia to provide advice and support on injury, physical and mental health and compensation issues. 03 Aug 2011 HMA Ships Perth, Newcastle and Sirius arrive in Melbourne today. They will be berthed at Station Pier. Perth & Newcastle will be open to the public from 1000 - 1400 on Sunday 7th August. The ships will depart on the 8th August.

Anzac Centenary Events
2014 - 2018

The Anzac Centenary (2014 – 2018) will shine a spotlight on the commitment and sacrifice of those who served in the First World War.

Across Victoria, there will be a number of commemorative events marking key dates throughout the Centenary.


OCTOBER 2015

ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball - 17 October 2015
The Naval Commemorative Committee Victoria, invite all serving ADF personnel, Australian and Allied Veterans along with family and friends, to attend the ANZAC Naval Commemorative Ball on Saturday 17 October 2015 at (New Venue) The Atrium, Flemington Racecourse, 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington (10 Minutes from the CBD).  Dance to the Music of the RAN Dance Band.  The Ball is open to all serving and former members of the ADF, NZDF, Reserves, Cadets, families, friends, Police, Emergency Services, our Allies and the General Public.
